Munich Riem Racecourse

The grounds of the Munich racecourse extend over 96 hectares. It is divided into a racetrack and a training area.

Come to one of our race days and let yourself be inspired by the world of horse racing! Entertainment, excitement, thrills, a beautiful atmosphere and, of course, noble thoroughbred horses await you.

Accompany the gallopers from their first performance in the parade ring to the finish line.

Approach

The racecourse is located in Riem in the east of Munich. You can easily reach us by car or public transportation.

By car
From the north: A9 via the A99 to the München-Ost junction.
Then take the A94 towards Munich as far as the Daglfing/Rennplätze exit. At the junction, take a diagonal right towards the racecourse/Olympia-Reitanlage until the end of the road.

From the west and south through Munich via the Mittlerer Ring in the direction of Passau (A94) to the same exit.

Public transportation
S-Bahn: Line 2 direction Erding, stop Riem.

So that you always know where to find what, we have a map for you here:

Main Entrance/Box Office: If you have not taken advantage of the online store (2€ discount), you will find the box office here.

A-Tribüne: The historic A-Tribüne is located directly to your right.
Box tickets (1st and 2nd floor) are available from us in the Online store.
On the 1st floor, you also have the option of purchasing stalls tickets to reserve your covered seat for race day.
These tickets are also available in the Online store.
The covered rows of seats on the second floor are available to all visitors with saddle seat tickets.

Club Grandstand: The Club Grandstand is currently being renovated following a fire.
Once it has been opened, you will be able to enjoy exciting horse races here with the best view of the action.
You will find more information on catering here shortly.

Row Grandstand: The row grandstand is accessible to everyone without an extra ticket (with the saddle seat ticket).
It seats 686 spectators for the races.
With a view of the big screen in the middle of the track, you won’t miss any of the action from here either.

Alm: Feast, bet and enjoy horse racing in a rustic Bavarian atmosphere.
This is possible in the Alm.
Screens in the Alm ensure that no highlights are missed here either.

Please note that the Alm is only opened to the public on some of the race days.

Saddling Area: With us you are there right from the start: At the saddling area you can take a first look at the horses for the next race and see how they are saddled.
After saddling up, it’s off to the lead ring

Driving Ring: Trainers, owners and jockeys gather in the driving ring to discuss the final details.
As a visitor, you can watch from the outside and find out which horse is your favorite.
Our track presenter will once give you important information about the horses.

Weigh-in/Saddling Ring: After the race, the horses are led from the track between the A and Club grandstands to the saddling ring.
The prize-giving ceremony takes place here after weighing and checking the course of the race.
The weigh-in building exudes the charm of the racecourse.

Secretariat: In addition to the Jockeystube and the Waage, the secretariat is also located in the Waage building.
This is also the office of the Münchener Rennverein.

Children’s playground + Pony Rides: Our Kinderland is great fun, especially for the youngest.
In addition to the playground, which is open all year round, and the pony rides, various modules such as the bouncy castle or the Bimmelbahn ensure a varied day for the children.

Food & Drinks

Of course, culinary delights are not to be neglected on a race day like this. We offer something to suit every taste.

Please note that alcoholic beverages are not permitted.
Our catering service will provide you with everything you need.

Club Stand

Our club stand is currently being renovated and is therefore not open.
Soon you can once again enjoy the exciting horse races with the best view and culinary highlights in the club restaurant at the Riem racecourse.

Wirtshaus zur Rennbahn

The Wirtshaus zur Rennbahn is open all year round from Tuesday to Sunday. On race days you can enjoy the 3-course race day menu including aperitif. Please reserve your seat at the Wirtshaus zur Rennbahn in advance. The ticket is not included in the menu price. Click here to go to the ticket store

Food trucks

Those who prefer a burger, pasta or chips will find what they are looking for at one of the food trucks. The number of trucks varies depending on the size of the race day.You can get both food and drinks here (sometimes different stands and trucks!).

Champagne Pavilion

As the name suggests, you can get champagne at the Champagne Pavilion, but also other delicacies and drinks such as Aperol Spritz. With a bit of luck, you can get one of the tables directly on the Absattelring.

Entertainment

Whether during or outside of race days – the grounds of the Munich racecourse offer recreational opportunities for young and old, athletes and music lovers, young and old, families and friends.

Children's Land

Bouncy castles, pony rides & more

Children can enjoy our playground all year long – but on race days, the area around the playground is transformed into an exciting children’s land. In addition to pony rides, there are various stations where children can let off steam and enjoy a fun-filled day. Depending on the race day, we book different modules for the youngest visitors’ big moments of happiness, such as a bouncy castle, a fun train or a clown.

Golf Course

The nine holes of the championship course are set against the impressive backdrop of the Munich-Riem racecourse oval – and beyond.The golf oasis in the middle of Munich!
Challenging 9-hole championship course, two-storey driving range with floodlights, practice greens, public 3-hole short course, professional golf school with an extensive range of courses for beginners and experienced golfers, store with the latest equipment, delicious food and drink and a friendly atmosphere.

Alm

“The alpine pasture is fixed, everything else is up to you to decide.”

In the middle of Munich on the grounds of the Riem racecourse, the event location highlight is open all year round and offers the perfect setting for your celebration.
The 1000 m² Alm fascinates with its charming interior, large terraces and panoramic windows and allows celebrations with up to 1,000 guests. Thanks to the flexible room concept, the Alm can be tailored to customer requirements and a cozy atmosphere is created for groups of 80 people or more. Conquer your guests by storming the summit.

Festivals

In addition to racing and events in the Alm, music fans of various genres come to our track up to four times a year.
The Isle of Summer festival series celebrates its season opening with us and Greenfields has also been at home on our grounds for over 20 years.

Polo

The polo facility has been on the grounds of the racing club since 2012. The Munich Polo Club is based here.
The Munich Polo Center has a 100m arena and a full-size polo field measuring 200 x 300 meters within the training track.
During the summer season, around 40 polo horses from Argentina are housed in the polo stable, where 12 to 15 players train regularly.

All your questions about the racecourse and horse racing

The doors open approximately 1 hour before the start of the race (the final times can be found online around 3 days before the race day). Most race days have around 8 races on the program. Before each race, you can get a first impression of the starters in the saddling ring. After saddling, the horses are led to the lead ring where they are introduced again. A presenter will guide you through the entire race day with information about the starters and jockeys. After the jockeys have mounted, the horses are led onto the track for the gallop. Once you have made up your mind, you can place your bets at the betting booths dotted around the grounds. After the race, you can join the trainers and owners for the prize-giving ceremony in front of the weighbridge. There are food trucks on site to provide you with food and drink.

The race days start differently.Ultimately, it depends on whether all the advertised races are held.This is determined approximately 3 days before the race day.Until then, you can use the time on our ticket page as a guide.

Yes, the box office is open for you on every race day.
The box office opens 1 hour before the start of the race.
For all money savers: In our online store, you can get your ticket at the advance booking price for 2 euros less until 11:59 p.m. on the day before.

As we are an open-air event, our race days are not sold out.
Only the reserved seats in the A grandstand may be sold out. You can check this in the online store.

Yes, dogs are allowed but must be kept on a lead at all times.This is for the safety of all officials, jockeys, horses and visitors.

Alcoholic drinks may not be brought to the race day.
Our caterer will be happy to cater for you.

The advance booking price is available at tickets.galoppmuenchen.de until 11:59 pm on the day before the race day.After that, you can also purchase tickets online at the box office price.

The saddle seat tickets do not mean that you are only allowed to stand at the saddle seat.With the saddle seat tickets, you can move freely on the railroad premises and can also use the seats in the tiered grandstand.
Only the box seats in the A grandstand are not available to you.

Yes, the seats in the row stand are available to you with the saddle seat tickets.

The race day will take place in almost all weather conditions, provided the safety of the horses and jockeys is guaranteed.If, contrary to expectations, a race day has to be canceled, you will be informed on our social media channels and our website.

Yes, there is free parking available in front of the Munich-Riem racecourse.But we would also like to recommend that you travel by public transport.

The S-Bahn station Riem (S2) is within walking distance.
Bus lines 263 (direction Messestadt West/U2 or Heimstetten), 190 (direction Messestadt Ost/U2 or Ostbahnhof), 194 (direction Nauestraße) and 264 (direction Messestadt West/U2) also leave from there.
