Full house at Häusler-After Work race day in Riem

Karoly Kerekes experiences a “dream day”

Four victories in one day: Karoly Kerekes swept the field in impressive fashion on the well-attended after-work race day at the race track in Munich-Riem. The horses trained by Kerekes on site won races number 4 to 7, each time with a different rider.

The impressive series began with the four-year-old mare Palimera over 1,600m with Roman Tomas in the Mobil 1 Cup, then the six-year-old Queen’s Harry with Konstantin Philip was completely superior in the 10 Years Mazda Anniversary Race over 2,200m. Then the five-year-old Heshima with Senan MacRedmond narrowly won the Cargarantie Race over 1,600m.

Martin Seidl on Elmos Fire put the finishing touches to the Stellantis race over 2,000 m in the final. “It’s always nice to come home, after all, this is my living room, I learned here,” said Seidl, who grew up in Munich. Kerekes, on the other hand, was almost speechless: “It was a dream day – I didn’t expect four wins at all. That’s something really special!”

More than 12,000 visitors

In ideal summer weather, more than 12,000 visitors flocked to Riem. “Thanks to the commitment of the Häusler car dealership, the after-work race day has become an absolute highlight of our racing year,” said managing director Sascha Multerer. And Häusler managing director Michael Rappl added: “The weather is perfect as always on our race day – we’ve never had rain – and the race track and our car dealership go well together.”

John David Hillis, who is preparing the six-year-old Aboutyourbusiness, also scored points for the Munich training center. Under Ines Löwe, he won the Dunlop Cup, the second round of the Bavarian Amateur Championship, start-finish over 2,200m. The multiple German jockey champion, Bauyrzhan Murzabayev, won the Honda Handicap over 1,000m with the four-year-old Lady Miller, trained by Bettina Mühlbauer.

Elodie Palau Teruel celebrated the very special first victory of her young career at the start of the race day. The trainee of Gerald Geisler in Iffezheim, Baden, won over 2,000 m on the big outsider Vibia Sabina. “100 meters before the finish, when I turned around and only heard Vibia screaming, I thought to myself that I could win,” said the rider after a day that she will probably never forget.

The next race day in Riem is on July 28th, the big Dallmayr race day!
