The Munich Racing Club says goodbye to two Munich legends

Quirina Bernhard and Lajos Öcsi in Balogh gestor

In quick succession, the Munich Racing Club lost two originals: Quirina Bernhard (98) died in mid-February, and Lajos Öcsi Balogh (89) then on March 4, 2023. Both leave a big gap!

At the end of February we received the sad news that Quirina Bernhard had passed away at the age of 98. Quirina Bernhard’s family had been rooted in the stables of Waldhof at the Munich-Riem racecourse since 1946. Someone like Quirina, who put her heart and soul into our sport, leaves a huge gap.

Lajos Öcsi Balogh was also an indispensable part of the Munich race track. His great career began in Hungary, and at just 16 years of age he had already celebrated 60 victories. He came to Germany via Vienna and was able to achieve many victories here too. He died on March 4th at the age of 89.

Quirina Bernhard and Lajos Öcsi Balogh will always remain in our memories. Our heartfelt condolences go out to everyone who was close to them.
