Bavarian Amateur Championship: Kevin Braye catches Swen Straßmeier after all

Ehrung der bayerischen Amateur-Champions 2026

Our amateur championship 2026 has been decided – this time three gentlemen take all the medal places among the “saddle artists”. Kevin Braye (20 points) repeated his win of the previous year, followed, as in 2025, by Swen Straßmeier (17); third place went to Pedro Martins Goncalves (13).

This year’s Bavarian amateur championship came to a close with a sprint: in the Preis vom Schloss Tüssling (handicap IV over 1,300 m), Amazing Luna (starting price 5.2:1) from Michael Figge’s stable scored a comfortable one-and-a-half-length win over Bocca di Lupo under Kevin Braye; Repute with Janina Boysen followed in third. Amazing Luna’s France-based rider, Thomas Guineheux, thus turned his very first ride in Munich into a victory. Amazing Luna is owned by Stall Ehrhardt, who were able to celebrate their first outright success in racing. With his second place, Kevin Braye pushed Swen Straßmeier – who had led the standings until then – back into second, as Straßmeier could only finish sixth with Grey Darling.

The 2026 trainers’ title went to Gerald Geisler in Iffezheim. Among the owners, Stall Hernstein, also based in Iffezheim, came out on top in the final reckoning.

To mark the Fegentri world championship qualifier for female amateur riders, which also took place on 24 October, there was a convivial celebration in our Wirtshaus zur Rennbahn in the evening. On that occasion, this year’s Bavarian champions were honoured by BVAR president Andrea Schneider and received handsome and useful trophies.
