Grand Finale in Riem with a Grand Prix and Two Auction Races

Consent, Gaststarterin im Großen Allianz Preis von Bayern

The season finale at the Munich-Riem racecourse has plenty in store: Saturday’s “Premium Race Day” exceeds all expectations before the curtain falls on this year. On the one hand, the Großer Allianz Preis von Bayern has attracted a field of ten runners that is strong both in numbers and in class; on the other, two lucrative BBAG auction races will be decided. And none of the nine contests on Saturday is worth less than 15,000 euros in prize money.

An International Class Field in the Großer Allianz Preis von Bayern

More than ten times that amount – 155,000 euros to be precise – is on offer in the feature race. The Großer Allianz Preis von Bayern is the last of seven Group I races in Germany and is run over 2,400 metres. Four visitors take part, two each from England and France. The international top trainers Francis-Henri Graffard and Sir Mark Prescott send two four-year-old mares in Tajlina and Consent respectively. Consent is ridden by Luke Morris, who won the race for Prescott in 2021 with Alpinista. Tajlina is partnered by Pierre-Charles Boudot, the multiple French champion jockey. With James Doyle, who rides the four-year-old Gethin, another world-class rider comes to Riem. Benjamin Marie takes the ride on the outsider Herbal from France.

Riem-based trainer Michael Figge also puts his trust in a Frenchman for his four-year-old Snow Player: Antoine Hamelin. Snow Player, and Akido trained by Henk Grewe, have both shown surprisingly strong performances recently, which they now have to confirm. The four-year-old Santagada, prepared by Peter Schiergen in Cologne, owes no further proof of her class – six Group wins speak for themselves. Schiergen’s second runner Daytona, by contrast, is an outsider, while Global Health (Fabian Xaver Weißmeier) and the 2025 Derby winner Hochkönig (Yasmin Almenräder) come to the start in good form.

Two BBAG Auction Races and the World Pool

The stars of the future are sought in the BBAG auction race over 1,600 metres. A dozen two-year-old thoroughbreds line up in the race, which is worth 52,000 euros. Among them is Karlos from the Schiergen stable, who earned 100,000 euros in winner’s prize money in the Ferdinand-Leisten-Memorial in Baden-Baden in mid-October. The race carries the by-name “World Pool Juvenile” – an indication that races 5 to 8 (including the Großer Allianz-Preis von Bayern) can be watched and bet on in the World Pool organised from Hong Kong. This international distribution promises additional income for the Münchener Rennverein and for German racing.

A further BBAG auction race is run as the Preis der Pferdeklinik Parsdorf, this time for three-year-olds. After last Sunday’s race day in Halle was abandoned because of slippery going, the contest over 2,200 metres, worth 37,500 euros, has been integrated into the Munich programme. Seven horses run. The race also opens the V7 bet, in which punters have to pick the winners of races 3 to 9 correctly. The Münchener Rennverein guarantees a payout of 30,000 euros, including a jackpot of 7,000 euros.

Nine Races from 11:50 a.m. to 4:10 p.m.

The last race day of the year begins on Saturday at 11:50 a.m. Ten two-year-old thoroughbreds contest the Preis der Allianz-Vertretung Wittmann over 2,200 metres. For the last time this year, the starting bell in Riem sounds at 4:10 p.m. With 16 horses, the Ausgleich III over 2,200 metres offers a tricky betting puzzle to close the day – as does the V4 bet, guaranteed at 10,000 euros, which is played in races 6 to 9.
