“We also made it clear to the sponsor that we will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Lotto Bayern Race Day next year, and on a somewhat larger scale.”
Multerer was also satisfied with the turnover in Munich’s own V4 bet, which involved predicting the winners of races 3 to 6. “The turnover was 13,522 euros, which is excellent for the early start today. The bet is proving more and more successful.” The V4 odds for Navare, Tilda Rangau, Limbo Dancer and Launching Percy were 3,380:1.
Schützenzauber opens the round
The two-year-old horses were the first to compete on the race day. The winner Schützenzauber from Jean-Pierre Carvalho’s training quarters and the second-placed Mademoiselle Ninet were two thoroughbreds who will soon be competing in higher positions. The 1.4:1 favorite Schützenzauber was half a length ahead of the mare trained by Henk Grewe at the finish of the 1,400m course. “We had to fight a bit, but in the end it was easy,” said winning rider Adrie de Vries.
Finally, it was the amateurs’ turn. In the Luimex Prize, the third round of the Bavarian Amateur Championships, the six-year-old Adehaine won over 1,800m. He is trained by Jutta Mayer in Riem, and the rider was Claudia Fleißner.
There had already been three home victories for the Riemer training center, including in the Lotto Bayern Grand Prix, the sporting highlight of the day. In the handicap race in the Handicap II category over 2,000m, with prize money of 11,500 euros, the five-year-old gelding Launching Percy won just ahead of the mare Tilly. The winner is trained by John David Hillis. In the saddle was Sean Byrne, who had already been successful in the second race of the day over 2,800m, and with the three-year-old Erol secured the 50th career victory for Jan Korpas, who works in Berlin-Hoppegarten.
Victories also for Figge and Glanz
Michael Figge from Munich won a handicap IV with Tilda Rangau over 2,200m. For his trainee Celine Johne it was the first ride in a thoroughbred race. And Werner Glanz was able to score points in the handicap III over 1,600m with the four-year-old Limbo Dancer. “The race was a bit chaotic at the end,” said winning rider Maxim Pecheur. “I stayed out of everything and had a bit of luck. But that’s what you need in sport.”
