German derby with Munich friends

The starting field for the IDEE 155th German Derby has been decided!

Even though no Munich horse will be competing this year, we are still looking forward to the race with great interest. Of the 9 horses that started in the wettstar.de Bavarian Classic at the beginning of May, 6 are expected to be in the starting box in Hamburg on Sunday.

Among them is winner Wilko (B: Stall Helena/T: Henk Grewe), who gave Leon Wolff his first group victory on Riemer soil and is definitely one of the favorites.
Last year’s winner René Piechulek wants to defend his title with Alleno (B:Gestüt Ittlingen /T: Marcel Weiß) and at least keep the Munich flag flying. Incidentally, René and Alleno took second place in the wettstar.de Bavarian Classic. In addition to Wilko and Alleno, Wintertraum and Augustus, who started in Munich, can certainly also be counted among the group of favorites.
The starting boxes for the German Derby 2024 open next Sunday, July 7th – if you want to follow the race live, you can do so on wettstar.de in the live stream, among other places.
