Deutscher Galopp summed up his performance in 2023 as follows:
“Fantastic Moon is the winner of the IDEE 154th German Derby (Gr. I). With this success in the “Blue Ribbon”, his trainer Sarah Steinberg wrote herself into the history of German horse racing as the first ever winning Greek trainer. For the 22-member owner community “Liberty Racing 2021” it was also the greatest success in the still young owner career.

Before the big triumph in Hamburg-Horn, Fantastic Moon had already placed at his home track in Munich in the Wettstar.de Bavarian Classic (Gr. III) and then won the Japan Racing Association Derby Trial (Gr. III) in Baden-Baden. After the Derby victory, the stallion, bred by Count and Countess Stauffenberg, placed in the Grosser Dallmayr Preis – Bavarian Breeding Race (Gr. I). From there he went on to Paris Longchamp, where Fantastic Moon confidently won the Qatar Prix Niel (Gr. II), one of the most important preliminary tests for the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, under his regular jockey Rene Piechulek.”
