Following the international top-level racing at the Riem racecourse two weeks ago with the immensely popular Dallmayr Race Day, the Munich Racing Club is devoting this Saturday to grassroots racing – the foundation of horse racing and thoroughbred breeding, which has existed in Germany for more than 200 years. Eight races are scheduled – due to the collaboration with the French state-owned betting provider PMU, the races will start early: The first start is scheduled for 11:14 a.m.
50,000 euros including jackpot
“It’s a very special day for the bettors,” emphasizes Sascha Multerer, Managing Director of the Munich Racing Club. “For the first time, we’re guaranteeing a minimum payout of €50,000 in the V4 bet. Money attracts money; you simply have to be there for this bet.” On the Dallmayr race day, the V4 bet, in which the goal is to predict the winner of four consecutive races, was not won. Therefore, the minimum guarantee includes a jackpot of €17,041, which should ensure good odds.
Saturday’s V4 race begins with a 1,600m handicap race featuring eleven horses. This is followed by the Lady Horizon race, a 2,000m handicap race featuring ten starters. The race, with prize money of €13,000, is also the most important race of the day.
The V4 race then moves down a category to the Handicap III, also over 2,000m. A dozen thoroughbreds are represented here. At the same time, the Rubaiyat race offers a four-horse bet with a minimum guarantee of €10,000. For this bet type, the first four horses must be in the correct order on the betting slip. The V4 race concludes with another tricky betting challenge: In the amateur race, a Handicap IV over 1,400m, ten horses compete.
Well-attended two-year-old race
Saturday’s race day promises plenty of excitement. The race day opens with a well-filled nine-horse two-year-old class, the MIG Fund Opening Race over 1,600m. Perhaps the stars of the future will be lining up here. “We think about the future every race day,” Multerer emphasizes. “As always, we offer a great program for our young visitors – with a bouncy castle, carousel, and pony rides. We want the whole family to feel at home at the racetrack.”
